Below is a listing of all computer classes currently scheduled through JET.  Any of these courses can be taught as a customized course for your organization.  Advanced Level III courses will be scheduled as needed.  Other training is available upon request.  Please contact the JET office at (607) 734-1574 for details, to be placed on a waiting list, or learn more about it here.

ACCESS® COURSES           

Organizations store all kinds of information in a variety of ways.  Looking through tons of data, analyzing it, and writing reports can take days of frustration.  Well, not with Access®!  Access® lets you easily store, retrieve and analyze information at the click of the mouse.  You'll learn to create databases and tables that meet your need, simple forms for people to enter information, queries to get and analyze information (even from multiple tables!), and reports that print it out for you in clean, professional looking formats.

Access® 2003 provides a powerful set of tools that are also easy to learn.  Create or use powerful database solutions that make organizing, accessing, and sharing information easier than ever.  This course is designed for students who wish to learn the intermediate level of Microsoft Access® including creating databases, tables, and relationships.  You will also create and revise queries, forms and reports and will introduce integration between other Microsoft applications. 


EXCEL®

MS Excel® is a simple but versatile spreadsheet program.  Record your business records, do sales forecasting, calculate depreciation on your equipment, figure  loan schedules, do payroll, or just make it easier to keep track of your household budget.

Excel® 2003 is a powerful spreadsheet program that allows the user to do simple to complex financial calculations.  Whether it is tracking business records, forecasting, creating a budget or payroll, or calculating depreciation on your equipment, this program will make these tasks easier.  Students will learn how to create, edit, format, and print basic Excel® 2003 worksheets and workbooks.  Prerequisite:  Introduction to Windows XP or familiarity with basic computer skills.

In this course, you will enhance presentations with features that will transform basic presentations into those with a powerful means of communication. You will use Microsoft® Office PowerPoint® 2003 features that draw, animate, and format presentations with professional-quality content such that they may be communicated to a wide variety of live, remote, and self-service audiences.


WINDOWS® XP: INTRODUCTION

Want to be a part of the Computer Age but don't know a mouse from a molehill?  Windows® XP will show you the basics of how your computer works.  Windows XP is a powerful operating system known as a graphical user interface that allows users to manage and run software including games, music, and videos.  Students will learn how to save documents, organize files, search their computer, work with the system tools and more.  This course is designed for students with minimal computer skills.

ACCESS® 2003 - LEVEL 3

This course is designed for the student who wishes to learn intermediate and advanced operations of the Microsoft® Office Access® 2003 database program. The Level 3 course is for the individual whose job responsibilities include working with heavily related tables; creating advanced queries, forms, and reports; writing macros to automate common tasks; and performing general database maintenance.

 


AMAZING POWERPOINT® PRESENTATIONS

This course is designed for participants with varying skill levels in Microsoft® PowerPoint® who want to build their own customized slide show and learn effective presentation techniques.  In addition to addressing text and graphics on PowerPoint® slides, participants will discuss the best practices for using visuals and review important principles in public speaking.  Participants may bring in prior projects for editing and improving.


EXCEL® 2003 - LEVEL 3

This course was designed for students desiring to gain the skills necessary to create macros, collaborate with others, audit and analyze worksheet data, create PivotTables and PivotCharts, incorporate multiple data sources, and import and export data.  Participants will also learn to automate some common tasks, apply advanced analysis techniques to more complex data sets, collaborate on worksheets with others, and share Excel® data with other applications.

 


 

FRONT PAGE®  2003  -  Level I

Learn how to use templates that can have your website up and running in an hour or design your own from scratch.  FrontPage® lets you easily create clear, professional looking websites and publish them with the click of a single button.  Anything that a website can do, FrontPage® can do!  You'll be pleased with how easy it is to learn.

Intended Audience:  This course is designed for employees responsible for an organization's website but who are not full-time web designers or IT professionals.  Small business owners may also find this course helpful.

 


FRONTPAGE® 2003 - LEVEL 2

You have created web pages with text, graphics, and tables.  However, you need to add more complex features, dynamic components, and to enable two-way interaction with your website's visitors.  In this course, you will use Microsoft® Office FrontPage® 2003's graphical and convenient tools to add these features to your website.  You will enhance the functionality and usability of you website using Microsoft® Office FrontPage® tools.  This course is designed for employees needing the skills to enhance and manage his or her web's functionality  and usability.  Prerequisite:  FrontPage® Level 1.

 


INTRODUCTION TO WINDOWS® '98

This course presents concepts that allow new users and those familiar with Windows® 3.1 to gain more advanced Windows® '98 skills.  It also covers new Widows® '98 features such as the Desktop and Taskbar, as well as file management, accessories, printers, and help.  This course is designed for all employees new to computers.

 


MS WORD® 2003 - LEVEL 3

You know how to use Microsoft® Office Word® 2003 to create and format typical business documents. But you need to work on more complex documents. In this course, you will learn how to use Word to create, manage, revise, and distribute long documents, forms, and Web pages.

 


MS OUTLOOK®

If you're like many people, you have a calendar for meetings, a rolodex for addresses and phone numbers, a file cabinet full of memos, a daily to-do list, a long-term project list, and an alarm clock to remind you of your next appointment.  With all these things to juggle, you may very well wish you had your own personal assistant to keep track of it all.  Well, you do, and its name is Outlook®!  This powerful yet easy to use software will not only send e-mails, but can track and time your phone calls, journal and record all your customer or client contacts (including items written in other software) keep track of your to-do list, and much more.  It can even help you schedule large meetings. Never play phone tag again!

Would you like to make a brochure to advertise a program but don't have an artistic bone in your body? Want a nice business card but don't want to buy the 500 minimum most professional printers require? Then Publisher® is for you. Publisher® lets you create brochures, greeting cards, letterhead, business cards and much more with just a click of a button. Design from scratch, or, if your creativity is running low, use their templates. You can develop a consistent look to all your business materials and advertisements using design sets. Creating professional looking documents has never been easier!  Participants should be familiar with using personal computers and word processing.
