Below is a listing of all computer classes available through JET and   scheduled for Spring 2006.  Any of these courses can be taught as a customized course for your organization.  Please contact the JET office at (607) 734-1574 for details, or learn more about it here.

ACCESS COURSES           

Organizations store all kinds of information in a variety of ways.  Looking through tons of data, analyzing it, and writing reports can take days of frustration.  Well, not with Access!  Access lets you easily store, retrieve and analyze information at the click of the mouse.  You'll learn to create databases and tables that meet your need, simple forms for people to enter information, queries to get and analyze information (even from multiple tables!), and reports that print it out for you in clean, professional looking formats.

This course is designed for students who wish to learn the basic operations of the Microsoft Access Database program to perform their day to day responsibilities, and to understand the advantages that using a relational database program can bring to their business processes. The Level 1 course is for the individual whose job responsibilities include working with tables to create and maintain records, locate records, and produce reports based on the information in the database. It also provides the fundamental knowledge and techniques needed to advance to more technical Access responsibilities, such as creating and maintaining new databases and using programming techniques that enhance Access applications.

Microsoft® Access 2003: Level 2 is designed for the student who wishes to learn intermediate level operations of the Microsoft® Access program. The Level 2 course is for the individual whose job responsibilities include creating new databases, tables, and relationships, as well as working with and revising intermediate level queries, forms, and reports. It also introduces the student to integrating Access data with other applications such as Microsoft® Word or Excel.

This course is designed for the student who wishes to learn intermediate and advanced operations of the Microsoft® Office Access 2003 database program. The Level 3 course is for the individual whose job responsibilities include working with heavily related tables; creating advanced queries, forms, and reports; writing macros to automate common tasks; and performing general database maintenance.

In previous levels, you were introduced to advanced topics that dealt with local database management. In this course, you will learn remote database management, how to exchange data with XML and other type applications, and how to automate your business processes by using VBA code. You will be introduced to the advanced features of the Access application and also the VBA programming language.  Access 2003: Level 4 is for students who have a thorough understanding of the basic and advanced user features of the Access program, and are interested in learning introductory level administrator skillsets. The course is also for the student that may be working in a web-based environment and may need to adapt Access applications to the environment.


BASIC COMPUTER PROGRAMS

Want to be a part of the Computer Age but don't know a mouse from a molehill?  Our basic classes were made for you.  Windows XP will show you the basics of how your computer works.  Outlook Express will get you sending emails like a pro, while our Internet class will show you tips and tricks for "Surfing the Net".

EXCEL

MS Excel is a simple but versatile spreadsheet program.  Record your business records, do sales forecasting, calculate depreciation on your equipment, figure  loan schedules, do payroll, or just make it easier to keep track of your household budget.

This course is designed for persons preparing for certification as a Microsoft® Office Specialist in Excel, who already have knowledge of the Microsoft® Office Windows 98 (or above) operating system.

This course was designed for students desiring to gain the skills necessary to create macros, collaborate with others, audit and analyze worksheet data, create PivotTables and PivotCharts, incorporate multiple data sources, and import and export data.  Participants will also learn to automate some common tasks, apply advanced analysis techniques to more complex data sets, collaborate on worksheets with others, and share Excel data with other applications.

Thinking of creating a website?  Already have one but want to give it more "zing"?  Wish you could do it but are afraid that it's all too complicated?  FrontPage let's you easily create clean, professional looking websites and publish them with a click of a single button.  Design your own site from scratch, or use one of the many templates provided.  The designs and color schemes can even be coordinated with your letterhead and business cards from Publisher to create a consistent company presentation.  Add shopping carts to sell online, create forms that put customer information into your database, and more.  Anything that a website can do, FrontPage can do!  You'll be pleased with how easy it is to learn.

You have a letter to type, envelopes to address, a poster to make, overheads to create for your boss, information to organize, a brochure to design, a staff manual to update, and the list goes on.  How many kinds of software do you need to do all that?  Just one!  Microsoft Word.  Microsoft Word is a powerful word processing software that can do many remarkable things.  Come learn how to write letters, reports, work with graphics, use tables, create form letters and mailing labels, and much more.

If you're like many people, you have a calendar for meetings, a rolodex for addresses and phone numbers, a file cabinet full of memos, a daily to-do list, a long-term project list, and an alarm clock to remind you of your next appointment.  With all these things to juggle, you may very well wish you had your own personal assistant to keep track of it all.  Well, you do, and its name is Outlook!  This powerful yet easy to use software will not only send e-mails, but can track and time your phone calls, journal and record all your customer or client contacts (including items written in other software) keep track of your to-do list, and much more.  It can even help you schedule large meetings.
